Presenters will discuss course alignment, transfer considerations, student support approaches, and key factors that contribute to successful collaboration. Participants will gain insight into how these partnerships can broaden access to rigorous, transferable college coursework.

Finy Prak
Principal, West Contra Costa Unified School District
Finy Prak has proudly served as the principal of Middle College High School for the past decade, guiding the school to broad recognition for its academic excellence and unwavering commitment to student success. Under her leadership, the school has been named a California Distinguished School, a National Blue Ribbon School, and a U.S. News & World Report Best High School, and it has earned a place on the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) Honor Roll. In 2025, the program made history when 98% of the graduating class earned an Associate of Applied Arts degree.
Founded in 1989 in partnership with Contra Costa College, Middle College High School was among the first programs of its kind on a California community college campus and remains a model for college-connected learning on the West Coast. Today, Middle College High School continues to serve as a beacon of student-centered innovation and a powerful example of what is possible when access, equity, and high expectations come together.
Mike Beam
Associate Vice President of Strategic Initiatives , Indiana University
Mike Beam is associate vice president for strategic initiatives in the division of enrollment, student success, and institutional effectiveness at Indiana University. Mike has 34 years of experience in secondary and post secondary education as a high school, teacher, administrator, university instructor, statewide director of P12 initiatives, and executor of strategic planning and enterprise initiatives.
Mike also has extensive experience in dual and concurrent enrollment programs, having directed Indiana University‘s program for more than a decade, growing the program from 6000 students to 25,000 students across the state of Indiana and contiguous states. Mike’s experience includes developing partnerships with second secondary schools, teacher and administrator, training and support, faculty development, and pedagogical alignment. Additionally, Mike has served on the board of directors and chaired accreditation commission for NACEP.
