The California Department of Education introduced the first Exemplary Dual Enrollment Award in 2022.
The purpose of this award program is to identify and recognize schools that have exemplary dual enrollment programs and to allow these schools to share their exemplary programs and practices which have contributed to their success. Come and meet the recipients of the 2023 Exemplary Dual Enrollment Award and learn how their dual enrollment programs evolved in
success.

California Department of Education: Attendance Accounting and Instructional Time Requirements for Dual Enrollment

The School Fiscal Services Division (SFSD) will present the most up-to-date statutory requirements for students participating in a dual enrollment program to generate attendance for apportionment. The presentation will include, but will not be limited to, the following topics:
- Teacher Supervision
- Claiming Apportionment
- Independent Study
- Daily and Annual Instructional Minutes
- Minimum Instructional Day
- Passing Time vs. Travel Time
- Calendar Differences

Equitable Dual Enrollment Expansion: Inclusive and Intentional College Pathways for California High School Students

In this session, a team convened by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office will guide college and high school practitioners in creating a plan for increasing equitable dual enrollment opportunities and outcomes for all high school students starting in the 9th grade. As a result of attending this session, practitioners will:
- Learn how to use internal and public data to identify representation gaps in their dual enrollment program
- Gain access to innovative methods for removing barriers and increasing equitable student participation and outcomes
- Plan and set goals for dual enrollment participation growth within their program
